I do most of my work now with the small, yet high-powered (100 hp) machine pictured above with the Fecon mulcher attachment. The mulcher has a wide range of applications, primarily fuel reduction for defensible space in the event of a wildfire, but also clearing land or just right-of-ways, eradicating invasive species (Scotch Broom, blackberry brush, ivy, etc.), and thinning trees for forest health. Although the mulcher is capable of mulching an 8” diameter tree right to the ground, it’s often more cost-effective to utilize the larger trees for firewood or pulp logs and mulch afterwards.

As amazing as this mulcher is, good forest management requires more. That’s why I designed the custom grapple bucket. If you click on the photos, you can see how versatile it is. This machine is also equipped with a camera showing the view out of the back so I can see to grab trees with the grapple bucket and skid them backwards to the road or on longer skids I can use the winch and chokers mounted on the back of the machine and skid forward. This combination is so cost-effective because I can bring all the equipment to the job with the dump trailer, haul logs or slash from the job, haul gravel, rocks, or landscaping material to the job, or use the trailer coupled with the machine to move material around the property.
